25-26 May 2011, Seoul, Korea
KOREN (Korea Advanced Research Network) is a non-profit testbed network infrastructure established for facilitating research and development and international joint research cooperation. It provides quality broadband network testbed for domestic and international research activities to the industry, academia, and research institutions, enabling testing of future network technologies and supporting R&D on advanced applications.
KOREN enables internetworking and field testing, which cannot be performed over commercial networks. KOREN enables international research cooperation through internetworking with international research networks.
Type of participation
FIRE STATION will give a presentation entitled "Overview and status of the FIRE initiative - Possible collaboration opportunities with the KOREN community".
Reason for participating/Objective of participation
KOREN is one out of the two Research and Experimentation (R&E) networks in Korea, the other one being KREONET; both of them are involved in FI testbed activities. This workshop is a good opportunity to learn about what KOREN is doing, and to make contact with the KOREN community, in addition to disseminating information about FIRE. There will also be presentations related to GENI, as well as from Japanese and Thai R&E networks and test beds representatives, providing additional opportunities to learn about them and make additional contacts for potential future cooperation.
