Clarification Call 8

Clarification of the Call 8 requirement for proposers to: "demonstrate a clear commitment of the FIRE facilities they intend to use"

Call 8 in the Work Programme 2011-2012 calls for STREP projects in the field: FIRE Experimentation. The call text includes the phrase: "Proposers must demonstrate a clear commitment of the FIRE facilities they intend to use".

This means that it is expected that proposers will have to show that they can have access to one or more of the existing FIRE facilities, or use another facility which they can federate with one or more of the existing FIRE facilities.

Proposers must therefore contact the facility owners to obtain this agreement. Since the FIRE facilities operate with different business models the commitment could be a detailed contract or just a short letter confirming that the facility is compatible with the intended usage and that - in case of selection of the proposal - the proposers will receive the access to the facility, though the exact conditions may still be subject to final negotiation.

Attention has been brought to the FIRE facilities concerning the important issue of confidentiality and they will guarantee the confidentiality of any information sent to them regarding your proposal.

Open Calls & Call 8

Taking into account the great success of Open Calls it is recommended that for future Calls (e.g. Call 8), IP/Facility projects should also reserve budget for their Open Calls.
