Call 7 included a joint EU-Brazil call for proposal. One project with a small budget has been retained as part of FIRE: FIBRE. The consortium of this project includes nine partners from Brazil. The MyFIRE project has in their consortium a partner from Brazil: Instituto de Pesquisas tecnologicas de Estudo de Sao Paulo SA, the Institute for Technological Research, a public research institute linked to the São Paulo State Department of Development.

FIRE STATION is involved with Japan through EU-Japan events. The 3rd EU-Japan Symposium on Future Internet and New Generation Networks (NWGN) was held in Tampere on the 20th-22nd October 2010. It was intended to facilitate interactions between the European and Japanese participants.

The European Commission organized, on October 20, 2011, an Information Day for Japanese researchers on the ICT Call 8.
