CREW invites FP7 Call 8 research projects to use their facilities for experimentation
To consortia that plan to submit a research proposal in FP7 call 8 (in particular for objectives 1.1 and 1.6 of the ICT research program) and consider experimental validation of novel spectrum sensing, cognitive radio and cognitive networking concepts, please be informed that:
- The FP7 CREW project has launched since October 2011 an open operational platform for experimentation of innovative cognitive solutions for different wireless environments (heterogeneous ISM, heterogeneous licensed (including TV bands), cellular, wireless sensor, outdoor heterogeneous ISM/TVWS.
- In addition, CREW offers experimentation methodologies for performing repeatable and reproducible experiments, enabling fair comparison between different solutions or subsequent developments.
- Although a basic operational platform is already available, the platform is still under development. In the next two years, the CREW consortium plans to implement demand-driven extensions to correspond to the needs of external experimenters (such as call 8 projects).
- The CREW projects is developing a sustainability business model to keep the facilities operational beyond the CREW project (beyond September 2015).
- For more information on the CREW project, we refer to
http://www.crew-project.eu. We in particular encourage call 8 proposers to have a look at the CREW portal (
http://www.crew-project.eu/portal) that provides a comprehensive description of the individual testbeds and guidelines on how to access and use the CREW federated platform.
Please contact Ingrid Moerman (
ingrid.moerman(at)intec.ugent.be) to further discuss the possibilities for using the CREW infrastructure in call 8 proposals.
