The Internet of Things Week 2017

The IoT Week 2017 will be a major conference on the Internet of Things (IoT) co-organized by the IoT Forum, the International Telecommunication Union, the HES-SO and Mandat International. The conference will gather top experts, innovators and stakeholders in the Internet of Things. It is the place where emerging IoT technologies, strategies and policies are discussed, and partnerships developed.

After several editions across Europe, it will be hosted in Geneva, at the international conference centre (CICG) and the ITU, from June 6 to 9 2017.

The 2017 edition is growing in scope and will encompass:

  • IoT Emerging Technologies and Research, reviewing the latest development in the field of IoT research and innovation, and identifying future trends.
  • IoT and Sustainable Development, with the adoption of the “International Declaration on IoT for Sustainable Development” together with the ITU to support the 17 SDGs adopted by the UN.
  • IoT Security and Privacy, which will address inter alia cybersecurity development for the IoT and the impact of the recent evolution of personal data protection and privacy norms at the European level (GDPR, WP29, etc.) and in other regions.
  • IoT Business, Finance, and Industry 4.0, discussing market prospectives, new financial and business models, as well as the impact of IoT on the industry and factories of the future.
  • The 1st IEEE endorsed Global IoT Summit (GIoTS) presenting selected scientific articles on the most recent IoT innovations.
  • An IoT Hackathon for developers.
  • Exhibition Area presenting emerging IoT technologies and partners.

The IoT Week also provides the opportunity to organize workshops and collocate meetings. Organizations and projects interested to organize a sessions, to collocate a workshop or to play an active role in the preparation of the International Declaration on IoT for Sustainable Development can submit online their suggestion. FIRE project activities @IoT Week 2017


The Festival project will be part of the the IoT Hackathon event that will take place during the IoT week from 6 to 9 June  in the CICG (Centre International de Conférences – Geneva), Switzerland.

Watch out! Tight deadlines for FESTIVAL hackathon ahead!

Proposals must be sent to Extended Deadline = May 24!
Hackathon registration is made on the basis of a specific online application. If your application is accepted, you will receive a code to register as hackathon participant. Please note that the hackathon registration is free and will enable you to join the hackathon activities as well as coffee breaks, but not to attend the sessions, social events and lunch catering.

During these four days developers will have access to Workshops and they will have also access to the required infrastructure (hardware and software) for implementing your project.

  • The International Conference Centre of Geneva (CICG) will provide an exhibition area for FESTIVAL & other projects to showcase their latest products, research results and solutions. Event stakeholders will be available for connecting and networking, along with the most relevant IoT experts, leaders and company representatives.

  • Experimentation as a Service over Interoperable IoT Testbeds
    • The session will be presenting the latest results from the FIESTA-IoT project. It will mainly focus on the description of the IoT experimentation that is enabled by the FIESTA-IoT Platform not only from a technical and practical perspective but also through the presentation of the 3rd FIESTA-IoT Open Call for Experimentation that is currently opened and welcoming proposals till the 15th of June.
